Happy Thanksgiving!

I don't have much to say today, but I feel that I must say something. I've been itching to make some kind of post for days. Something is always coming up or going down or I don't feel like I have much to post about. Thanksgiving is something to post about. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! A lot of people probably won't read this the day of Thanksgiving, but I send my wishes out, hoping that the vibe of happiness will penetrate the atmosphere and touch you with the happy stick.

I made my blog rounds today, catching up with everybody. I need to post some kind of picture here. Let me check out my pictures to see if I have some unused art to show here. I don't have anything. I do have a picture of a turkey, which is appropriate for today. I think it's a picture of the turkey that the president saved from being cooked. That lucky bugger.

Hall of Bats and Disneyland

I went to Disneyland yesterday with my now 21 year old son. It was his 21st birthday and he got free admission to Disneyland. We had a good time, there's more to tell, but I have spent the day incapacitated. Somehow I hurt my neck during all the excitement yesterday and I've had to rest up all day and it still hurts. My wife thinks it might be whiplash. I just know that it hurts to turn my head.
Also, here is a drawing that I finished a couple of days ago. I sketched it out a few months ago, put it aside and recently worked on finishing it up.

Beards, Changes and Things

I made some color changes to my blog a few days ago. I didn't realize that you could make those kinds of changes. I came across it by accident when I was trying to do something else. I'm not so sure that I've come up with a satisfactory color scheme, but I decided to stop fiddling with the colors so that I wouldn't make it any worse. I got confused as to which colors I was changing on which section of the blog until I just got confused.

I've started to grow my beard out again after being clean-shaven for a while. My wife actually prompted me to grow it out again, which surprised me. Sometimes women aren't that fond of the ol' scratchy beard thing, but what the heck.
The drawing above was originally done in the 90's. It has always felt unfinished to me, so I embellished it some, thickening some lines and deepening the shadows. Now, I'm more satisfied with it. It was inspired by a photo of Robert E. Howard, but it's not a faithful rendering of the photo. I was envisioning a hard boiled detective, naming him Howard Kane, after Howard's last name and his character Solomon Kane,

Magnum Poe

Today I bring you a different take on Edgar Allan Poe. This is a take-off of the title of the TV series Magnum P.I. that aired some time ago and starred Tom Seleck. Poe is here, with pistol raised, guarding that cask of Amontillado.

Belated Halloween

Halloween is past, but here are some photos from some houses in the neighborhood that put up some decorations. The four pictures in the middle are from the same house. The pictures on the ends are from separate houses. We didn't put up any decorations at our house. We did hand out candy. My wife and I sat outside on the driveway to to hand out candy. Our walkway is under rennovation and we were afraid kids my trip on their way to our front door.

Halloween Mini-Not

It's getting close to Halloween. Here are a couple of drawings intended for publication in a Halloween mini-comic to be published by Main Entertainment. Unfortunately, this publication is not going to be published now, but these drawings will appear in some other Main publications, sometime in the future. I don't want to wait for that, so here they are now. Happy trick or treating this Halloween!

Poe Short: Berenice

I was going to wait to show this art when it was published. I now don't know when it will be published, so I will show it to you now. It was going to be published as part of a mini comic featuring illustrations and short interpretations of Edgar Allan Poe's stories and poems. I chose to do a 2 page version of his short story, "Berenice." It's not a full adaptation, it's more of an impression.

The story is about a man who becomes obsessed with this woman's teeth. When she dies, he digs her up and pulls her teeth out. When he digs her up, he finds that she is alive, buried alive. Yet, he still pulls her teeth out. He is in such an obsessed state, that he does not realize what he has done until later when he finds the teeth in a box. He and everyone else is horrified by it.
